How is revision eye surgery performed?
Cases where the double eyelid line is too high
This symptom appears due to complex causes, such as when the double eyelid line was designed too high from the beginning, or when the position fixing the double eyelid line is excessively high. After making an incision including the original incision line, the highly fixed area is released, and it is fixed again at a lower height.
Cases where the left and right sides are mismatched
If both sides were designed differently during surgery or if the eyes are asymmetrical due to differing strength in the muscles that pull the eyelids, symmetry is achieved by redesigning and excising the skin.
Cases where the double eyelid line has come undone
The incidence of double eyelids unraveling after surgery has decreased significantly compared to the past, being about 3% for the non-incisional method. This is a symptom caused by unraveling after double eyelid surgery; after a re-incision, it is firmly fixed, and the line is recreated.
Cases of severe double eyelid scarring
This mainly occurs after incisional surgery; the skin including the scar tissue is completely removed, refixed, and delicately sutured.

If revision surgery is performed while scars are healing and swelling is subsiding, the skin tissue is already in a damaged state, which may cause side effects to recur later or result in an unnatural eye shape after the revision. Since the time it takes for swelling and scars to heal varies from person to person, it is recommended to observe progress for about 6 months to 1 year before having a specialized medical team assess whether it is suitable to proceed with revision surgery.
Common complications that may occur after surgery, such as bleeding, infection, and inflammation, can vary in degree depending on the individual, so caution is advised.
