Sleepy-looking eyes, worry no more!
When the function of the levator palpebrae superioris muscle—the muscle that opens the eyes—deteriorates, the eyelid droops and covers the pupil, giving a sleepy and tired impression. This condition is called ptosis (blepharoptosis).
When the muscle strength to open the eyes weakens, in most cases people strain their foreheads to open their eyes, which frequently causes forehead wrinkles. Correcting ptosis can improve your appearance to a refreshed and well-defined eye shape as well as a comfortable and bright impression, and prevents forehead wrinkles since you no longer need to strain your forehead to open your eyes. Severe ptosis can be improved with incisional eye ptosis correction, while mild ptosis can be corrected with non-incisional eye ptosis correction.

How is ptosis correction surgery performed?
Incisional ptosis correction
This surgery involves making an incision along a pre-designed line to set the eye crease and adjusting the muscle length so that you can open your eyes more comfortably. Because the levator palpebrae superioris muscle that raises the eyelid must be shortened, a portion in the middle of the muscle is excised and sutured, or sutured together between muscles to shorten its length. Incisional ptosis correction is mainly performed when the upper eyelid droops and significantly covers the pupil, when ptosis is severe, or when the skin or muscle is thick.

Non-incisional ptosis correction
Because the surgery is performed using sutures without making a large incision, it can create a natural and defined eye shape. By adjusting the strength of the eye-opening muscle with sutures, it allows the pupils to appear larger and clearer when the eyes are open.
